It's May. So what? A record western snowpack is allowing skiers and snowboarders to enjoy their sports far longer than usual. In fact, more than 61 feet of snow has dropped on the High Sierra this time around, among the snowiest winters since the early fifties.

Don't hang ‘em up yet. Here's the outlook:

Squaw Valley USA plans to stay open through May 8 on a daily basis and then for Friday through Sunday operations until Memorial Day.

Boreal Ridge on Donner Summit will operate on the Friday-Sunday schedule all the way through May as long as conditions permit.

Alpine Meadows will keep on going until May 15, while Mt. Rose intends to go through May 6. Kirkwood will keep going at least through the early part of May.

Mammoth Mountain had previously announced it plans to stay open until the Fourth of July.

Golf? What's that?
