Visitors to OnTheSnow.com have chosen Mount Snow in Dover, Vt., as having their "Favorite Terrain Park" in the Northeast. The data period for voting was January 2011 when a Nielsen audit showed 3.4 million unique browsers logged in to the world's most visited Web platform. OnTheSnow.com is published by Mountain News Corp.
The ski resort with the top average score (on a scale of 1 to 5) in each category, and a minimum number of entries, receives the award. Visitors then ranked them in five categories: Overall Favorite, Best Nightlife, Most Family-Friendly, Best Downhill Terrain, and Best Terrain Park.
"User-generated content is a very powerful and effective way Web visitors have to communicate with each other," said Mountain News Global Managing Director Chad Dyer. "Skiers and snowboarders are relying on the word of their peers when they make resort choices."
Here are just a few samples of what OTS visitors wrote about Mount Snow: "I'm a snowboarder, and I liked the fact that I could get around the mountain without having to unstrap my bindings every time. Mount Snow has made a major investment on its terrain park and has more jumps and pipes than almost any other ski resort it." "Carinthia is for kids looking to jib, spin, and show off. It is great fun and has gotten the mountain on national TV for the winter Dew Tour."
Mount Snow's Carinthia slope is the only north face in the East totally consumed by terrain parks. There are four parks covering 40 acres and a superpipe at Mount Snow. It has been a favorite for half a century because of its variety of terrain and easily accessible Southern Vermont location. There are 598 skiable acres service by 20 lifts.
