Here's a season wind-down party you may not want to miss. Homewood and Granlibakken Resort have teamed to host Viking Day Saturday, April 2, 2011. It's a slopeside party welcoming spring, including tug-of-war, snowman building contests and more. Special guest for the day will be Bjorn d‘Party, official Viking of Granlibakken.

But, here's the best part. Arrive at Homewood to ski or ride in Viking regalia and you'll receive a $5 discount on your lift ticket for the day. You can email a photo of yourself in that regalia by April 2 and you can win a Granlibakken lodging package. Submit photo to this site.

There will be additional savings throughout the resort at food and beverage venues, available whether or not you are in costume.

Swamp Zen will provide live music to keep Vikings on their feet from 1-4 p.m. at Homewood's North Lodge sundeck.

Homewood lodging packages at Granlibakken include breakfast and lift tickets as well as complimentary shuttle service to the ski area. Rates start at $128 Friday and Saturday nights.

Homewood is 55 miles from Reno Tahoe International Airport and is accessible via I-80 to California State Route 89. It is one of California's first vacation resorts. We will resist asking, "what's in your wallet?"
