Can't decide if you want to head to the beach for spring break, or maybe consider getting some skiing and riding time in? Great Lakes snow sports enthusiasts should look at Boyne Mountain.
You can ski and ride when you want, or splash when you want. You have the best of both worlds at Boyne Mountain.
It may not be beachside, but with Avalanche Bay Waterpark attached to the Grand Mountain Lodge at the base of the ski hill, it's darn close. Ski and ride in the morning when the slopes are firm and freshly groomed, and head to the waterpark in the afternoon when slopes start to get slushy.
The Ski and Splash Combo Package is available through the end of the season and starts from $115 per adult, based on two adults and two children with kid's prices ranging from $9 to $57 per night. The package includes lift ticket, Avalanche Bay admission pass, hot breakfast and hotel lodging at the Mountain. It's the perfect solution for families that can't decide between hitting the slopes or the beach for spring break.
Budget Travel magazine just named Avalanche Bay as one of the top ten water park attractions in the U.S. in its February issue. It's one of the largest water parks in the Heartland.
There's a package available that includes free lift tickets. The package, from $103 per night, includes a night's lodging and two complimentary lift tickets. It's also available through season end. You have to mention code SKIF when making the reservation to receive the free tickets. Follow the link below to book a reservation.
Daily lift tickets have also been reduced; $30 for an adult, $26 for teens and seniors, and $22 for juniors.
Boyne will stay open daily through April 10 and after that on weekends as long as the snow holds out. They often stay open well into April if weather permits. Three years ago the last day I skied at the Mountain was April 20.
Last week I spent a couple of nights at the Mountain, and it was great for spring skiing; plenty of snow. My son and two-and-a-half-year-old granddaughter joined me for an evening foray at Avalanche Bay. There are plenty of activities to please all ages. She didn't want to leave.
