Montezuma Bowl is the largest terrain expansion in the United States for this season. It adds 36 new blue, black, and double black diamond runs to the area, complete with cornices, chutes, glades, and wide-open bowls. Several of the runs will be groomed nightly, providing cruisers for intermediate skiers. It increases A-Basin's terrain by 80 percent. The Zuma lift, completed in late October before the snow started to fall, provides a way out of the bowl. It's a nine-minute ride from top to bottom, rising 1,100 vertical feet, with a capacity of 1,900 skiers per hour. "Montezuma Bowl is more of what people really love about A-Basin," said the resort's Alan Henceroth. "The new terrain provides extraordinary blue, groomed cruisers, and vintage Arapahoe expert terrain. By spreading people around a bigger mountain, we can preserve that special vibe that skiers and riders cherish at the Basin." A-Basin is in Summit County.
