Cataloochee hit the 100-day mark before a sustained spell of warm weather prompted the resort to close earlier this month.

"Due to the continued unseasonably warm temperatures, Cataloochee Ski Area has closed for the 2010-11 season," Chris Bates, Cataloochee general manager, said.

"We wish to thank all our guests who have visited with us this season and hope to see all of you here again next season. We made the decision to close for our 50th season after the day skiing session on Sunday, March 6. This is four months to the day from when we opened on Nov. 6, and after 100 days of operation. While this decision has been difficult, we have had a successful season and prefer to finish with good conditions," Bates said.

Cataloochee is selling its 2011-12 season passes at Early Bird Pass Pricing through March 31.

For example, Single Unlimited Passes cost $475 until March 31, then $525 until Aug. 31, then $600 until Oct. 31, then go up to the full season price of $625.

Weekday Night passes, good non-holiday weekdays, are $179 until March 31, then go up in steps to the full season price of $330.

Cataloochee offers many other pass choices.
