Ski season at Snowshoe Mountain Resort isn't over yet, although the end is in sight.
The resort has decided to give lodging guests free skiing, and all others skiing or riding for $26 a day - or half off the regular ticket price, during the last week of the season, March 21-27.
Snowshoe expects 39 of the Basin area's 40 slopes to be open through the end of the season. That open terrain will include the resort's famed Western Territory, offering 1,500 vertical feet and trails nearly 1.5 miles long.
Snowshoe Resort's Last Hurrah festivities also include savings on mountaintop lodging, rental equipment, and retail offerings, and also offer adventure activities and the traditional end-of-season Pond Skimming Event March 26.
Snowshoe's rental shops will be offering discounts on Head and Burton ski and snowboard rental equipment, and Snowshoe-owned retail shops will be offering discounts of up to 50 percent on a variety of products including outer wear, footwear, skis, boards, and other ski and snowboard equipment.
Snowshoe's Outdoor Adventure activities, including guided snowmobile tours and snowcat tours, also will be offering special Last Hurrah savings.
The annual Last Hurrah Pond Skimming Event will take place Saturday, March 26. Daring skiers and riders will attempt to skim their way across a manmade lake on the resort's beginner slope just outside the Village. Snowshoe's DJ Judd will provide music, and revelers will compete in a "most rad" costume contest and will enjoy a Happy Hour "Survivors Party" at Moonshine Pub.
Lodging packages start at just $125 a night for a gold-rated junior studio in the resort's Village, accommodating up to four people, or $32 per person per night for accommodations and skiing and riding.
