Schweitzer Mountain Resort launched multiple pass sales this month. The resort rolled out their annual early season pass sale and introduced a spring pass good for the remainder of this season.

The Spring Fling Pass is valid until the end of this year's season, which is scheduled to run until April 10. The $99 pass costs less than the equivalent of two days of adult lift tickets. Those purchasing the Spring Fling Pass can apply the cost of it towards a season pass for 2011-12.

The resort also started up its early sale for next winter's season passes. The rates for most season passes run $50-100 off during the sale, which lasts through May 31.

Season pass add-ons are also discounted during the spring sale. Add-ons include season parking, RV parking, lockers, gear check, NASTAR, Nordic, and summer lift access.

Weekends in April bring annual traditions to the slopes to finish the season. The third annual 24 Hours of Schweitzer gives skiers, telemarkers, and snowboarders a chance to raise funds for Cystinosis research by skiing as many runs as possible in 24 hours. Participants can race solo or in teams. Entry, which costs $125, includes a lift ticket, T-shirt, meals, sleeping bag accommodations in Lakeview Lodge, hotel discounts at Selkirk Lodge, and admission to the awards and auction party. Season passholders can enter for $100.

The final weekend of the season, April 9-10, brings out the annual Tropical Daze. Skiers and riders hit the slopes in Hawaiian shirts with competitions in pond skimming, the Rotary Duck Derby, and the Downhill Dummy Derby.
