Morzine is hosting the first ever edition of the Festival des Concerts Sauvages April 2-9.
The concerts are called "sauvage-wild" or "savage" in French because they take place on temporary stages set up right in the forest.
The 10 concerts will take place at various spots all over the the pistes of the Portes du Soleil ski area. Each day will feature a different concert by some of France's and Europe's leading pop and rock artists, such as BB Brunes, Keziah Jones, Inna Modja, Joyce Jonathan, and Madalena. The concerts are free and accessible with a valid ski pass.
As an added extra, there will be a fringe festival each evening with up and coming nouvelle scène française groups.
There's a catch, however.
The concert venue and artist's name are kept secret. To know who is playing and where, it is necessary to register at www.festivalconcertssauvages.com. The organisers will then send you a text message the day before the concert with all the information you need to find your way to the stage hidden somewhere in Les Portes du Soleil.
Morzine will act as the base camp for the event, with the artists lodging here. The resort will also be the nerve centre for the fringe festival of Les Concerts Sauvages.
