The sixth and final stage of the Freeride World Tour 2011 takes place in Verbier March 19.

After criss-crossing the planet, from the USA to Russia via Japan and France, the world's best freeriders are qualified for an eagerly anticipated final: the Nissan Xtreme Verbier.

These professional riders, men and women in both ski and snowboard categories, will demonstrate their talent on the legendary Bec de Rosses, which reaches an altitude of 3222 metres.

Around 5000 spectators will gather in Les Gentianes to witness one of the most impressive extreme sports events of the year.

As side events to the Freeride World Tour, the emphasis is on preventing risks linked to off-piste skiing: athletes share their passion while insisting on the importance of acquiring a full knowledge of mountain conditions, and of using the indispensable freeride equipment.

The battle for the world title 2011 in Verbier will determine who will follow in the footsteps of reigning World Champions Candide Thovex, FRA (men ski), Ane Enderud, NOR (women ski), Xavier de Le Rue, FRA (men snowboard), and Aline Bock GER (women snowboard).
