Be ready for boot camp in Snowmass. It's the fifth year for the Terrain Park Boot Camp, which helps you learn how to slide a box or hit a rail in a mini-park on the slopes of Snowmass. The fun is for kids and adults, according to Snowmass's Deric Gunshor with the resort. "The most fun part of the event is that kids, parents and everyone in between has the opportunity to learn from and ride with some of the best skiers and snowboarders in Aspen/Snowmass. The athletes are great at getting people to experience riding in the terrain park for the first time."
Coaches will be available to teach beginners how to safely handle features in the entry level terrain park. Anyone is welcome as long as you're game. The instruction is available from noon to 3 p.m., March 19-20 and March 26-27. Head over to skiers' right of Fanny Hill on Snowmass, between the Village Mall and base village.
Everything is free, but you must have a helmet. Minors also must have a waiver signed by their guardian.
The fun doesn't stop on the hill. Two Bud Light Hi-Fi concerts during the event will feature Ivan Neville's Dumpstaphunk March 20 at 4 p.m. in the Snowmass Base Village and rock band Pepper will play March 25 at 8 p.m. at the base of Aspen Mountain.
The 12th Annual KickAspen Big Air Invitational on Aspen Mountain will be held March 19. It features the best regional ski and snowboard athletes competing under the lights at the base of Aspen Mountain. Prize giveaways, a beer garden, and a DJ will round out the action at the base of the mountain.
