Greek Peak Mountain Resort is expanding.

That's the word out of Cortland, N.Y., where resort officials have just announced details of a $20 million construction plan.

The resort will spend the money to build an outdoor Adventure Center, add Conference Facilities at the base of the mountain, and make improvements to the ski area.

The Adventure Center is expected to open June 1, and will include a ropes course, zip lines, a mountain biking park, an alpine coaster, and a year-round tubing center.

The Conference Center, scheduled to open in September, will host functions for up to 400 guests. Improvements to the ski area operations include the addition of a new quad lift.

Greek Peak was conceived and dedicated in 1958, and two years later was up and running with two T-bars and an A-frame lodge. it expanded steadily over the years to current status as the largest ski area in Central New York.

This most recent phase of development continues the plan first conceived in 1975, to create a family centered, year-round destination resort. The new Adventure Center and Conference Center will build on the success of Hope Lake Lodge, a 106 unit four-star condo hotel; Waterfalls Spa, a 5,500-square-foot luxurious Feng Shui designed international spa; and the 41,000- square-foot Cascades Indoor Waterpark - all of which opened in December 2009.
