What says spring more than a bumps race on a well-covered trail, under sunny skies, on soft snow that explodes into sprays of corn with each aggressive set of skis or board?

Well, maybe pond skimming, but that's not for anyone but the very hardcore among us.

Camelback Mountain Resort is celebrating spring by hosting its first bumps competitions in years March 12.

Registration runs 8 to 11 a.m. in the Big Pocono Family Eatery. The first run takes off at noon, on The Asp. Admission to the race is free with daily lift ticket or season pass.

Prizes will be awarded based on style and creativity. Competitors will be grouped according to age and gender, and divided into skiers and snowboarders.

Camelback Mountain Resort is located in the heart of the Pocono Mountains. It has 34 trails on 160 skiable acres, 800-foot vertical drop, and 15 lifts including two high-speed quads, 3 triples, 6 doubles, a surface lift at SunKid and Coolmor trails, and 2 tubing lifts, snowboard halfpipe, two terrain parks, and a wide selection of trails for all ability levels. It offers snowmaking and night skiing on all trails.
