Got classes? Ditch them. A week-long party for college students is revving up at Alpine Meadows and Homewood Mountain Resort this spring. Reduced lift tickets, costume contests, music, discounts, and competitions are part of the spring break frivolity scheduled March 14-20.

Daily parties spin with discount beer and food specials, DJs, live music, tubing, dance offs, and a rail jam. Enjoy an outdoor ice bar on Wednesday. On March 17, beat your friends and enemies in locating the pot of gold hidden on the mountain to win an Alpine Meadows spring pass valid for the rest of the season.

The week dovetails with the Take the Lake Triple Air Competition, Friday through Sunday. The event tosses a visual feast of jumps and air.

Pack along the costumes for the slopes-a prom dress, superhero cape, St. Patrick's Day green, and anything retro from the 1980s. Costume contests revolve around themes with winners getting lift tickets and swag.

Discounted lift tickets are available during the week for those with valid college IDs. Tickets cost $39 for Alpine Meadows and $29 at Homewood. Tubing costs $10.

Lodging specials are available for College Week participants. Granlibakken Conference Center and Lodge, located between Alpine Meadows and Homewood, offers discounted rates at $99 per night for regular hotel rooms and $35 per person per night for shared dorm rooms. A breakfast buffet, parking, and use of the hot tub, sauna, and heated outdoor pool are included. Wireless Internet is available in case a paper or assignment is due. Students should ask for the Alpine/Homewood College Room Block to get the discounted rates.
