Visitors to Idaho's Silver Mountain Resort can mix slope action with surf action for a different type of spring getaway. The Kellogg resort houses ski runs and a terrain park on its two mountains, along with an indoor water park at its base area.
Activities at Silver Mountain run on varied schedules during spring. March offers skiing, snowboarding, tubing, and water play while April trims down to skiing, snowboarding and the water park.
Lifts run Thursdays through Mondays for skiing and snowboarding on the regular winter schedule through April 10. Saturdays on April 16, 23, and 30 may see the lifts operate for additional days, depending on conditions.
The resort operates six lanes for tubing. They are open Fridays through Sundays in March, but close thereafter.
The Silver Rapids Waterpark is open Thursdays through Mondays in March. Its hours-open until 7 to 8:30 p.m.-allows opportunity for visitors to enjoy snow play during the day followed by splashing in the water in the evening. The water park opens daily April 1-10, but Fridays through Sundays only throughout the remainder of April.
Lodging packages combine resort activities with stays in condominiums in the Morning Star Lodge at the base of the gondola. The Ski, Surf, and Stay includes full day lift tickets, unlimited access to the water park, and one night of accommodations starting at $90 per person per night based on two adults and two youths in one unit.
The Splash, Snow Tube, and Stay package targets the non-skiing and non-snowboarding crowd. The package includes tubing tickets, a gondola ride, water park passes, and a condo stay on weekends in March starting at $65 per person per night with two adults and two youth in a deluxe studio unit.
