A strong winter system has moved through little Cottonwood Canyon and deposited eight inches of snow atop 11,000-foot Hidden Peak, helping to build up the base for the upcoming season. Snowbird is scheduled to open Sat., Nov. 17. Official snow totals don't count until Nov. 1, though. This week's snowfall won't count toward the annual accumulation that averages 50 inches of light, dry powder.
