Le Massif in Quebec has installed automated pass readers at all lifts, so skiers and riders with Le Massif 4-Day, 7-Day, and Massif Plus Cards can slide right onto the chairs without a detour to the ticket windows.

The resort's new chip cards replace the old plastic cards.

Readers at each lift scan the card and, the first time through each day, deduct one day from those remaining.

The cards operate by radiofrequency, and no longer need to be dangling outside your winter garb. Slide the card securely into a pocket; the readers will find it.

Le Massif does, however, need to attach a photo of each guest to his or her Le Massif Card.

Card holders also can reload their cards online.

The Le Massif 4-Day Card is valid for any four days Sunday to Friday, consecutive or not. It costs $219 for adults, $179 for seniors 55 and over, $154 for students 13 to 17, and $119 for juniors 7 to 12.

The Le Massif 4-Day + Card is valid for three visits Sunday through Friday plus one visit on Saturday, consecutive or not. It costs $229 for adults, $199 for seniors 65 and over, $169 for students 13 to 17, and $129 for juniors 7 to 12.
