Whistler Blackcomb sailed passed their average annual snowfall in mid-February, ensuring a long spring ski season. The resort also declared March to be a family month, offering special deals for kids.

Abundant snow this winter caused Whistler Blackcomb to pass the mark of its annual average snowfall-a number usually reached by the end of May. The resort usually averages 1,025 centimeters or 404 inches of snow per year.

But the tally of snowfall for this season cruised to 1,059 centimeters and 413 inches by Feb. 20. Those totals surpassing the average are setting the resort up for a long spring ski season. Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains are scheduled to operate through April 25 with Blackcomb Mountain remaining open until May 23.

March has been declared Family Month when kids get free deals. Kids can get free lift tickets, stay free, and get free rental gear. The special kids free deals are only available with phone reservations, not online. Kids can also dine free at select restaurants at Whistler in March.

A family ski and stay package is available in March starting at $137 per adult per night. The package is for four nights of accommodations and three days of skiing. Packages must be booked at least three days prior to arrival.
