Val di Fassa in the Dolomiti Superski area is hosting a telemark and freeride week "Polartec Scufoneda" March 13-20.

The seven-day event features a full programme of sports, folklore, and local gastronomy. Highlights include the Freeride Cup; the Telemark Classic Race; off-piste excursions for telemarkers, skiers, and snowboarders; courses for telemarkers, freeriders, and children; courses on avalanche safety; equipment demos; and torchlit processions.

The full week's registration costs €30 and there's a €5 discount for registering online. The full week registration includes an event gadget pack; a welcome cocktail at Taverna El Garber; an excursion with mountain guides; accompanied skiing; access to test materials; evening events; skipass for Trevalli area; dinners and lunches; and rental equipment.

Telekids activities are available without charge Monday to Saturday 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. This includes telemark and freeride lessons with ski instructors and alpine guides for kids aged between 8 and 17.

A range of hotels for all budgets are offering a 15-percent discount on skiers staying during Polartec Scufoneda week.

Registration for the week-long event is available either on line or on site at the Moena Ski School.

The Val di Fassa ski area is made up of the resorts of Moena, Lusia, and San Pellegrino.
