Stratton Mountain Resort in the Green Mountains of Vermont is hosting the U.S. Freestyle Championships March 22-27.

It is the second time Stratton is hosting this premier event for freestyle skiers.

"We're an equal opportunity mountain," says Stratton's Myra Foster, referring to Stratton's long association with the U.S. Open Snowboarding Championships, which have been held there for most of their 29 years.

The Freestyle Championships will bring the U.S. Freestyle Ski Team and other top skiers from across the country to Stratton to compete in moguls, aerials, halfpipe, and dual moguls.

As with the U.S. Open Snowboarding Championships that happen earlier in March, the U.S. Freestyle Championships involve concerts, a sponsor village with free swag, a chance to mingle with competitors, and six days of fun.

The event is set up to be spectator friendly, with viewing areas, announcers, and a large screen at the base.

Conditions should be ideal this year. The winter of 2010-11 has seen bountiful natural snowfall across the Northeast and most other parts of the country, and ideal snowmaking weather as well. Moreover, the annual evolution of conditions into spring skiing and riding will have begun, driven by longer and warmer days.
