Celebrate sunshine and spring skiing at Arapahoe Basin. Make a difference to children, the environment, and your family by joining in one of a handful of special-event days going on now through the end of April.
March 4 marks the Children's Hospital Burn Camp Fundraiser. Cheer on members of the Colorado Fire Protection Association as they race down the slopes to raise funds for the Children's Hospital Burn Center. Teams of five negotiate a 15-gate slalom course for time. Each team member wears a fire department bunker helmet and jacket and is positioned along a 50-foot small-diameter fire hose. The race begins at 9:30 a.m. and ends at 3:30 p.m.
The 3rd Annual Save Our Snow Celebration takes place April 9. A-Basin Ski Area has committed to providing quality outdoor recreation experiences as stewards of an exceptional mountain environment. Make your way to A-Basin for a fun-filled day of environmental education. All proceeds benefit the High Country Conservation Center.
One of A-Basin's longest standing events is the 22nd Annual Enduro. Skiers and riders make laps on the Pallavicini (Pali) chair from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. without stopping. The current record stands at 71 runs. All proceeds from the event benefit a local charity yet to be determined.
April 20 is the Local's Day Big Air Competition followed by the famous Beach Day and Egg Hunt April 24. Summit County local radio station, KSMT The Mountain, throws a huge party to celebrate the die-hard locals. Local's Day includes a Big Air and Style Competition, barbeque, live music, and scavenger hunt with prizes such as a 2011-12 A-Basin Season Pass, gift certificates to local businesses and restaurants, and a Sam Adams mini-fridge.
The Easter Bunny joins the kids at A-Basin for an Easter Egg Hunt on skis. Both skiing and non-skiing children can participate. The Easter Bunny arrives at noon just outside the Snowsports Center. Egg hunts take place on Molly Hogan for those on foot, and on Wrangler for those skiing.
Don't put away your ski and snowboard equipment quite so fast. Arapahoe Basin often stays open until early June, depending on weather and conditions.
