Crested Butte Mountain Resort is gearing up to host its inaugural gay skiing event, Butte 11: Mathew Shepard Foundation Gay Ski Week, March 19-26.
The weeklong event includes, in addition to skiing and snowboarding, an après ski tubing party, a Shoot the Butte pub crawl, the Splash Pool Party, ski hook ups, and opportunities to learn more about the education, advocacy, and awareness work of the Mathew Shepard Foundation. Shepard was killed in a hate crime in Wyoming. A percentage of lodging and lift revenue generated through the event will be donated to the Foundation.
Crested Butte is offering a complementary Gay Card party pass to guests booking a minimum four nights' accommodations. The card will provide admission to all official events throughout the week. Reservations can be made by calling the number below. This special offer is good through Feb. 28.
Lodging, lifts, and Gay Card party pass packages start from $800.25 per person at the Grand Lodge, which is just a couple hundred yards from the lifts. The package includes a five-night stay, three-day lift ticket, and the card. Butte 11 Gay Cards can be purchased separately for $150 per person.
The event is produced by StraightOut Media and Marketing. They also run Telluride's Gay Ski Week.
