Welch Village, the popular southeastern Minnesota day-trip area located in the Cannon River valley near Red Wing, is promoting family togetherness on the slopes. Take a day and get out and enjoy winter together.

Family Festival Days take place Sunday, Feb. 27 and Sunday, March 13. Family Fare is offered every Tuesday and Thursday night, after 4 p.m.

Family Fest Days include an all-day lift ticket, ski or snowboard equipment rental, one-hour lesson, and coupons for a meal in the chalet. The cost is $49 per family member and the package is available for purchase online only and must be purchased at least a day ahead. Children under 11 get a two-hour lesson as part of the Kid's Club and Snow Explorer's programs.

The Family Fare program is also $49 for each person. It includes lift ticket, rental equipment, and a one-hour lesson, which is offered at 6 p.m. Advance registration is required at least 48 hours ahead for children under 11.

Welch Village's front slopes are spread across two peaks with 60 trails and slopes, nine chairlifts and a surface tow. There's a good mix of difficulty levels with nice easy runs complimented by some of the region's best steep and headwalls. The new backside, opened a couple of seasons ago, added a backside to the ski hill, which many Midwest ski areas don't have. You only see a portion of Welch from the parking lot.
