UPDATE (Feb. 15, 2011). The matrimonial numbers may have been down slightly from previous years, but the "I Do's" were loud and clear on a beautiful afternoon at Loveland Ski Basin in Colorado as 69 couples tied the knot in the snow.

Love conquers all today (Feb. 14, 2011) at Colorado's Loveland Ski Area as couples share their vows at 12,050 feet, just outside Ptarmigan Roost Cabin at the top of Chair #2. Pre-registered couples need to sign in at the Rathskeller Bar at the base between 8 and 10:30 a.m. The mass wedding ceremony at noon sharp typically draws more than 100 couples and the wedding party needs to arrive by 11:30 a.m.

All participants and guests must be able to ski or ride down the mountain after the ceremony. There is no other form of transportation, and just as an fyi, there are no restroom facilities at the cabin.

The theme is "Marry Me And Ski For Free." Participating couples who have completed a pre-registration form are eligible to purchase "2 for 1" lift tickets today. Guests may purchase lift tickets for $59. Your post wedding meal can be at any Loveland Cafeteria outlet and that's a "2 for 1" deal, too, for $11. Sorry, champagne's not included.

Harry Heilman, a registered minister with the Universal Life Church, conducts the mass ceremony that takes about 30 minutes. Couples are encouraged to wear "ski wedding attire" and the best-dressed couple will win a prize.

The most important rule is couples must have a valid Colorado Marriage License and bring it with them to the ceremony to be officially signed.

Be sure to dress warm, though the weather for Loveland is expected to be "winter balmy" -- partly sunny with a high of 46 degrees, however that forecast is most certainly not for 12,050 feet.

The wedding reception (or after party) begins at 1:30 p.m. in the Basin Patio at the base area. Each newly wed couple receives a gift bag from First Bank, while Coors and Pepsi will supply the beverages. Tunes will be spinning by a DJ from KSMT radio.

Hey, ain't love grand?
