Sugar Bowl Resort plans to host Shred the Love at the end of February. The one-day event raises funds and awareness for breast and ovarian cancer research.

Boarding for Breast Cancer, the HERA Women's Cancer Foundation, and Sugar Bowl are teaming up for Shred the Love Feb. 26. The event, formerly known as Jam 4 the Cure, coverts all of the entry fees into education, prevention, and awareness programs for breast and ovarian cancer. This is the fourth year of the fundraising event.

Shred the Love features a rail jam from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Switching Yard Terrain Park. Competitors enter for $25, and spectators can watch from the Mt. Judah Lodge deck. Awards follow the jam competition, and live music runs 2 to 5 p.m. Pink lanyards to show support for the cause will be on sale for $4.

A pre-party is also scheduled Feb. 25 in Truckee. The party features live music from Left Alone and Cold Forty Three starting at 8 p.m. at the Tourist Club.

Sponsors of the event have also contributed funds to Shred the Love. Some of the sponsors include Paul Mitchell, Marmot, Ride Snowboards, Grenade Gloves, Never Summer Snowboards, Tahoe Dave's, Camelback Hydration, Salomon, Volcom, Arma Energy Snx, Gu Energy, Nomis, and Technine.

Funds from the event go to Boarding For Breast Cancer and the HERA Women's Cancer Foundation. The non-profit Boarding for Breast Cancer organization aims to increase awareness among youth about breast cancer, the importance of early detection, and the value of an active lifestyle. The HERA foundation funds research in finding new methods of early detection, prevention, and treatment.
