The Scottish Snowcross Championships is to be held in Glenshee March 5-6.
Last year's event, which took place in Cairngorm Mountain, saw nearly 100 competitors from all over Scotland race head to head in an action-packed knockout race along a course consisting of man-made and natural rollers, jumps, kickers, and banked turns.
The two-day competition is open to skiers and snowboarders and entrance costs £20. Categories include male, female, 8-11, 12-15, 16-29, and 30+.
Last season Cairngorm Mountain had to undergo special preparations for the event, including cutting the track by movinghundreds of tons of snow with their piste grooming machines. Specially commissioned starting gates, similar to those used at the Vancouver Olympics, were taken almost to the summit of Cairngorm at an altitude of 3800 metres.
The event is organised by the Aberdeen Snowsports Club and sponsored by Saab. Chairman of Aberdeen Snowsports Club, Neil Cameron, commented: "We were delighted with last year's Snowcross and our thanks go to Cairngorm Mountain and Saab. This year we are excited at the prospect of taking the event to Glenshee and their support and enthusiasm has been amazing. I'm sure the Snowcross will become the competition of the season."
