The chairlifts at Solitude are but a short walk away from the lodges and condos, but now the resort has made the mountain more accessible to the pocketbook as well.

A $169 per night, per person deal makes skiing and snowboarding at the Big Cottonwood Canyon resort more affordable, especially with lift tickets and equipment rentals thrown in for good measure. The DEAL Package requires a minimum of two nights' stay at either the Inn at Solitude or condo in the village for the rest of the season, except during the Presidents Week holiday of Feb. 18-27.

All reservations for this offer must be made over the telephone, and callers must mention "DEAL" during the call. The phone number is 800-748-4754.

The second discount package at Solitude, called February's Sweetheart Deal, runs until the end of February. A $127 per-person, per-night price gets a room at the Inn or condo, a box of chocolates at check-in, $50 spa credit for each night, and reduced $50 lift tickets.

Again, the package requires two nights' minimum stay and double occupancy. Rooms are subject to availability and must be booked through the Solitude website (link below), making sure to put in the number of adults and number of adult skiers to ensure the discount tickets for all skiers and ‘boarders.

The advertised price for a night at Inn at Solitude begins at $209, based on a two-night stay, according to the resort's website, and regular adult tickets go for $68. Tickets for juniors under 14 cost $42.
