Spirit Mountain, overlooking Duluth and its Lake Superior harbor, is deep into winter with great slope conditions, and lots of midweek specials to entice local snow sports enthusiasts.
A couple of motels within a mile of the ski area are offering some nice lift and lodging packages for out of town guests. It's not quite slopeside, but almost.

AmericInn has lift and lodging packages starting from $95.90 midweek. Whirlpool suites are available for a little bit more. You need to mention the Spirit Mountain website special when making a reservation.
Within walking distance of the slopes the Mountain Villas, only lodging on Spirit Mountain, offer midweek villas from $130 and $210 on weekends.
Family Night takes place Monday through Thursday nights at the ski area. Up to four family members - parents and children 18 and younger - get lift tickets for $25, and rentals are available for just $10 per person.
Every Friday night, 4-9 p.m., college students with a valid ID can get a lift ticket for $10, ski rentals for $10 and snowboard rental for $15. Those 21 and older can enjoy drink specials and a good party afterwards in the Moosehead Saloon, which is located in the spacious day lodge overlooking the slopes.
New this season is a Thursday two-for-one pricing on single rider Timber Twister tickets. Two riders can ride the alpine coaster for $8 and enjoy some S'mores afterwards for just one dollar. That's a sweet deal, pun intended.
