Ron Scheidermann of Liftopia says Super Bowl Sunday siphons many skiers and riders off the slopes and onto couches across the land, starting early in the day, and creating lots of room for people who prefer the slopes to the tube.

"I thought you and your readers might be interested in Liftopia's Big Game Super Lift Ticket Sale," Schneidermann told OnTheSnow the other day.

"This is our big annual promo, and for this year's version we have 65-plus ski resort partners coast-to-coast offering lift ticket deals up to 60 percent off for this Sunday.

"Park City, Winter Park, Killington, Copper, Kirkwood, Snowshoe, and more are part of this promo," he said.

"We are data geeks, so it is fun to see that 15 percent of U.S. resorts are taking part in this one promo," he said.

Schneidermann said participating resorts offer a minimum discount of 20 percent of regular lift ticket window prices through Liftopia.

"What we think is interesting about this is that it illustrates one of the core reasons why Liftopia exists. Super Bowl Sunday is a notoriously slow day for ski resorts since folks stay inside prepping chili and hanging out with their buddies, so we work with our partners to get people out on the hill ahead of the game by offering a unique, date-specific discounted lift ticket. This helps resorts tactically counteract an otherwise slow period, and helps customers ski or ride for a really great price," he said.
