Keeping up with all the deals and discounts in an entire state usually means reams of coupons, lists of phone numbers, and hour-by-hour Internet checks to coordinate the trip, and save money at every turn possible.

The New Mexico Tourism Department has squeezed all of that paperwork into a single, credit card-sized package, called the Discover New Mexico Enchantment Card. The free card can be had at visitor centers and retail outlets around the state. which can be found by going online (see link below) to www.newmexico.org/tournm/getyourcard.php. The card is no longer available online.

The Discover New Mexico card offers discounts at businesses that range from restaurants to spas to lodges and winter resorts. Each business displays a Discover New Mexico decal, and ski and snowboard resorts figure prominently in the discount program. Pajarito Mountain, Red River and Taos Ski Valley are among the wintertime resorts that offer deals in lodging, equipment rental, and/or lift tickets when a customer flashes the Enchantment Card.

Literally thousands of offers can be found in all regions of New Mexico, everything from a free refill of coffee at a convenience store to a free consultation on home design to two-for-one hamburgers.

Card-holders must be at least 16 years old to receive the discounts and special offers.
