The snowfall in Vail could result in a record-breaking season. "With the help of Mother Nature this season, it's difficult to remember better conditions on Vail Mountain in my 25 years with Vail," said Chris Jarnot, the COO of Vail Mountain and senior VP.
This is the fourth best season-to-date snowfall in Vail's history. Snowfall is nearly eight feet above Vail's average at the top of the mountain, and that dates back as far as the records exist which was during the 1963-64 season, Vail's second season being open.
Even better, Vail's current snowfall is more than double what it was at this time last year at mid-mountain. Liz Biebl with Vail Resorts says, "We didn't have a snow year like this last year. It's a big change from last year. I think everybody's glad to have great snow back. It's fantastic. How can you not be happy with this kind of snow?"
Vail is still offering the Ski Free Stay Free packages. Book now and you can get an extra room night and a day of skiing or snowboarding. Packages start at $150 per person, per night. Participating properties are in Vail and the surrounding area, and include hotels, condos, and houses.
