Grandvalira Operating At Near Capacity

Andorra's largest ski area, Grandvalira, has virtually all of its lifts and runs open as of Feb. 9. The operational status is thanks to yet another 20cm (8 inches) of snow falling a few days ago, taking slope depths up to 80cm (32 inches). These normal conditions mean Grandvalira has one of the world's largest ski areas fully operational with snow depths twice what they were at this time last year. Most red (intermediate) and black (expert) trails are open, compared to last year when very few in these categories were able to open until the end of the winter. There is also fresh powder snow across the area.
