More than 100 mountain bikers will gather at 3500 metres above Saas-Fee for the Glacier Bike Downhill March 26.
After a mass start on the glacier, mountain bikers will race down the valley, mastering the 1800-metre vertical on slippery snow and ice conditions, reaching speeds of more than 120 kilometres per hour.
Saas-Fee's glacier will also play host to the Allalin Races 2011 for the 29th time April 1-2. Around 1000 participants from across Europe are expected to gather in the village once again to test their skills in the ski and snowboard downhill races. This is the highest ski race on a glacier in the world. Participants in the Allalin Races also can benefit from a reduced ski pass costing CHF49.50, valid March 27 to April 3.
Saas-Fee offers plenty of winter fun for skiers and snowboarders well into spring. The resort's high altitude, with glacier skiing up to 3600 metres, means there's good late-snow conditions. Saas-Feee has something for everyone with well groomed slopes for carvers, mogul slopes for technical riders, and a snowpark for freestylers. The freestyle park offers a variety of rails, boxes, kickers, a half pipe and a chill-out zone.
