Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe is all about getting people to the slopes. The closest resort to Reno is offering $10 lessons this winter to two groups of skiers and snowboarders. The resort is also giving away free season passes through March.

The Mt. Rose Ski and Snowboard School is targeting women and seniors with its $10 lessons. Women and seniors with Unlimited Season Passes can take the classes for free. The classes are taught by PSIA certified instructors with women teaching the Ladies Clinics and seniors teaching the Silver Ski Clinics.

Ladies Clinics are taught every Thursday until the end of the season except for Feb. 24. The 90-minute classes, open to skiers, snowboarders, or telemark skiers, start at 10 a.m. or 1 p.m. Participants must be low intermediate to advanced in skill level.

Silver Ski Clinics are offered every Monday and Wednesday through March 23, with the exception of Feb. 21 and 23. The program targets skiers ages 50 and older with skills at lower intermediate to advanced levels. The program meets for a continental breakfast at Timbers 8:30 a.m. with the two-hour on-snow session starting at 9:30 a.m.

Reservations are not required for the $10 clinics. Lift tickets, which are not included in the $10 fee, are required.

Mt. Rose has also launched a giveaway for season passes. Those purchasing a lift ticket or a lesson package online for weekend use is entered for a drawing to win season passes for this year. The giveaway runs through March 20.
