The cozy Alpine Chalet at Alpine Meadows with its classic pine interior and warm fireplace warms up cold skiers with lunches and hot chocolate. But the mid-mountain chalet also offers a unique evening dining experience for groups and the public on select evenings, including Valentine's Day.
Transportation to the chalet for dinner is provided by a snowcat, rather than using a lift and skis. Special dinners or après ski parties can be scheduled for groups of 10-30 people. But unique public dinners also are available this winter-one with a special Valentine's Day menu Feb. 14 and another scheduled March 12.
The dinners, which cost $125 per person, feature a gourmet four-course menu with wine pairing. The ambiance comes from the chalet and dining companions.
The Valentine's Day menu introduces the evening with a first course crostini platter that includes white bean pancetta, sundried tomatoes, pine nuts, mushrooms, and herb goat cheese on micro greens. The second course follows with a warm goat cheese salad with organic baby arugula and poached pear.
Main course choices include Filet of Beef Tenderloin, Seared Salmon, Stuffed Portabella, Duck Breasts, or Diver Scallops. Mains are sided with seasonal vegetables and potato gratin. The dinner finishes with apple cobbler with ice cream or chocolate torte with cherry sauce.
Advanced reservations are required. Space is limited inside the chalet.
