Stratton Mountain Resort in Southern Vermont has a well-deserved reputation for good skiing and riding in an elegant setting, including the resort's impressive alpine village base area, but elegance does not have to mean pricey.

In other words, even at Stratton there are deals to be found.

Stratton has a Sunday Four Pack for $99 that includes four Sunday afternoon lift tickets - one each for two adults and two kids 17 and under - and a cheese pizza. Add rentals for $10 a piece.

The thinking is that on Sundays, people might prefer lying in bed and lingering over breakfast to leaping up and racing out into the cold.

Sunday afternoons also are traditional slow periods on ski slopes, as guests are loading the car and heading home by then.

Stratton also has a Just Because package that offers lift ticket, lodging, lunch, rental gear, and a $50 gift certificate for dinner at Bentley's, starting at $135 per person.

Stratton's X2 discount card remains on the radar, at $79, and gives card holders discounts through the season. Discounts are $30 off non-holiday weekday lift tickets, $20 off non-holiday weekend lift tickets, and $10 off holiday lift tickets, plus a free day of skiing.
