Discovery Ski Area just launched the sale of their spring semester passes. The passes take on more value now with the new Silver Chief chair running.

The resort put their Spring Semester Passes on sale starting Jan. 14. The passes are available to any full-time students at Montana colleges or universities.

The Spring Semester Passes, which are only available online, cost $180 each. Skiing or riding five days pays it off.

Students purchasing the passes will be required to show proof of current enrollment when picking up the pass. Class schedules, transcripts, and tuition bills can work as proof.

The resort also offers College Days throughout the season. Students can get reduced lift tickets for $19, and often a band is scheduled to play in the lodge. Call the ticket office for upcoming dates.

Ski passes at Discovery have taken on more value this winter with the opening of the new Silver Chief lift. The triple chairlift, adding another 1,000 feet of vertical to the backside, gives access to 200 acres and 10 runs, the bulk of which are intermediate. Silver Chief operates Fridays through Sundays.

The lift was installed to open last year, but the snow conditions failed to accumulate for skiers and riders to reach the bottom safely due to its base sitting much lower than the rest of the resort. The lift, which opened this year in time for January skiers and riders to cruise the new runs, is intended as a second base area when a new road is built.
