The fun doesn't stop on the slopes at Beaver Creek. The high-end resort next to Vail offers seven nights of family fun, with nearly all of it for free. Each activity is intended to let kids experience a lot more on their ski vacation, while getting outside and enjoying the winter wonderland. Jen Brown with the resort says when the ski day is over, people want other activities to try. "This is the perfect way to allow families to try new things and to be outdoors in the wintertime. Many people don't have these opportunities at home and it's just a fun way for families to be together."

Say hi to the Buckaroo Bonanza Bunch Mondays and Wednesdays. That's when you'll meet the Wild West characters for story time on the hill at 2 p.m. Meet at the top of the Buckaroo Express Gondola. Try the Family Snowshoe Tour Tuesdays, through March 29. Brown says the route is on the perimeter of Beaver Creek Village. "It provides a totally different perspective of the village, and a unique opportunity for families who may have never been exposed to snowshoeing." She adds that it is short and easy and a great way to get the kids outside. It's followed up with cocoa and cookies. Snowshoeing is for kids ages six and up. Sign up at the Nordic Center at 970-754-5313.

Rail Jams are Wednesday and Saturday evenings. Sign up on site. Friday night is Family Fun Night at The Ranch, which is also the kids' ski school facility. There's face painting, music, and dinner specials. Everybody loves disco and Saturday is Saturday Night Fever disco night at the tubing hill.
