The Rangeley Inn and Saddleback Maine have teamed up on a lodging and lift ticket package that runs through the season. The deal is good midweek during non-holiday periods until the lifts stop spinning sometime in April.

Rates for a standard room at the Main Inn run $84 to $120, or $125 with a whirlpool tub. Rooms in the Lakeside Motor Lodge start at $99 for two double beds and a shower.

Meanwhile Saddleback Maine had its best day ever Dec. 31.

Conditions are excellent there, in case you're curious,.

"Christmas break was an awesome week for us," said Saddleback General Manager Chris Farmer. "Skier visits were up 28 percent compared to the year before, and visits to Saddleback are up 23 percent season-to-date. The 38 inches of snow we had that week made skiing conditions truly spectacular."

Saddleback's PEAK program for New England honor roll students has played a role in those numbers, with 1,822 passes sold to date.

Saddleback Maine is in the Rangeley Lakes Region in Western Maine, among a concentration of 4,000-foot-high peaks, with 66 trails and glades for skiing and riding. The resort is undertaking a multi-year expansion of terrain and facilities.
