Sun Peaks Resort added two new programs for winter visitors. One gets skiers and snowboarders on the slopes before the public and the other guides participants down the mountain after a fondue dinner.
The First Trax Breakfast takes place every Wednesday morning through March 23. Participants load the Sunburst Express at 8 a.m. for an hour of skiing the runs on Crystal Chairlift before the public. Skiing is followed by a breakfast served 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the Sunburst Mid Mountain Restaurant.
Tickets cost $22 for anyone 13 years or older and $17 for children 12 years and younger. First Trax Breakfast tickets are available at the Adventure Centre, but must be purchased by 3 p.m. on the previous day.
The new Fondue Dinner and Evening Descent runs every Thursday night through March 24. Skiers and snowboarders load the Sunburst Express Chairlift at 5 p.m. to ride up to the Sunburst Mid Mountain Restaurant for a fondue dinner that is accompanied by live music. Lanterns light the slope of 5 Mile Run for the guided ski down. Headlamps are provided, too.
The dinner and ski down cost $65 per person. Reservations, which must be made at the Adventure Centre, are required.
