Peek'n Peak Resort in Findley Lake, N.Y., is launching a new Junior Freestyle Team featuring the resort's progression terrain parks.
The new program highlights Peek'n Peak's three progression terrain parks, designed to move skiers and boarders up the skill ladder.
The Junior Freestyle Team is being introduced to provide focused coaching in a safe, fun environment and improve freestyle skills.
The team is open to children and young adults ages 10 to 20 who can confidently and safely maneuver the trails at Peek'n Peak or their local ski resort.
Cost to join the team is $475 which includes a three-day camp Jan. 15-17. Members also will receive more than 90 hours of dedicated coaching over the season, training on weekends 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., limited training on NASTAR race improvement skills, coaching in freestyle skills based on personal goals and abilities. The Junior Freestyle Team will be led by Brian Donovan, Peek'n Peak Assistant Snowsports Director and AASI Eastern Division Examiner Development Team Member. All coaches will be AASI certified instructors.
Meanwhile Peek'n Peak is moving toward escape from bankruptcy, which resort officials expect will happen at the end of February or beginning of March. Peek'n Peak's Carrie Longstreet said the resort is in the midst of a restructuring plan, with all spending plans for the winter approved by the bankruptcy court. The resort filed for bankruptcy protection from creditors at the end of May, and snow sports operations are under way as in past winters.
