Skiing and riding is off to a great start this winter at Durango Mountain Resort with nearly eight feet of snow in just the last couple of weeks of December blanketing the resort and region.

January is a great month for a visit considering the incredible conditions and lift and lodging packages starting from $67 per person available throughout the month at the resort. With lift tickets retailing for that same amount at the ticket window, it's the equivalent of free overnight lodging. How can you go wrong?

January is also "Learn a Snowsport Month," and DMR is offering a Start ‘Em Off Right program. The package, $99 per person, includes rentals, lessons, and a lift ticket for the day. The program covers skiing, snowboarding, telemark skiing and even snowbiking. It's your choice.

You can also tailor a lesson to a specific area of Purgatory Mountain. Each two-and-a-half lesson offers plenty of instruction, along with insider tips to help you master a specific portion of the mountain. The lessons are $60 and offered daily at 10 a.m. and again at 1:30 p.m. You can choose from a front side experience to master the terrain under the Purgatory Express; Ambassador's experience exploring the new glades; moguls experience; powder experience; and a carving experience learning how to carve up the miles of corduroy found at the resort.

Book a three night stay at DMR this winter and receive a fourth night free. You can also add three full days of lift tickets and/or rentals, and you receive a fourth day free.
