With the pre-Christmas opening of its 425-foot-long superpipe, New Hampshire's Loon Mountain Resort staked a claim to being the first resort on the East Coast to offer a superpipe to guests this winter.

Loon also has three of its terrain parks open, including the top of its signature Loon Mountain Park. The resort has established a reputation for excellence in the realm of terrain parks, with parks and features dotted around the mountain.

Loon added 428 high-efficiency, Low-E HKD tower snow guns over the summer, the largest installation of this latest technology in New England.

The new firepower allowed Loon to open more terrain earlier in the season than ever before, including the superpipe and other terrain park features.

"Building the pipe is a huge commitment and takes a lot of man power," said Brian Norton, Loon's terrain park manager. "We give a lot of credit to our snowmaking and grooming team and we are stoked, not only to be the first mountain in the East to have a superpipe open, but also to have it for the holiday week. This really shows our dedication to offering a great experience for park and pipe riders and skiers. "
