Amtrak is offering a 20 percent discount on travel this winter to Whitefish, Montana for skiing at Whitefish Mountain Resort. Select cities on the Empire Builder route that runs between Chicago and Seattle offer the discount.
The 20 percent discount off adult fares is only available on the Empire Builder to Whitefish, rather than other lines or destinations. Westbound travelers can get the discount from Chicago, Milwaukee, Columbus, Lacrosse, Winona, St. Paul-Minneapolis, Fargo, Grand Forks, Minot, Williston, Harve, and Shelby. Those traveling eastbound can get the discount when originating in Spokane, Everett, Edmonds, Seattle, Portland, Washington's Vancouver, and Pasco.
Tickets must be booked by Feb. 13 at the latest, but travel dates can run through March 31. The discount is not available Feb. 18 and 21. Reservations must be made at least three days prior to traveling.
Kids traveling with adults can get tickets for half the discounted adult fare during the sale. Up to two kids ages 2-15 may accompany each adult with the discount. The discount is available for coach seats only. But you can upgrade to sleeping compartments by adding on the full accommodation rates.
