Laax is to host the Burton European Open 2011 Jan. 8-15. This eight-day event is the biggest and most well respected snowboarding compeition in Europe.

The world's leading freestyle snowboarders will meet in Laax to battle it out on the superpipe and in the slopestyle event for BGOS and TTR World Ranking Points, trying to get a share of the $125,000 (USD) prize-purse. Previous winners have included stars like Shaun White, Kevin Pearce, and Kelly Clark.

The event is an open competition with up to 400 participants, giving amateurs a change to challenge the world's top pro riders. It also offers juniors, women, and men the opportunity to show their skills in the same superpipe and slopestyle course.

The BEO is the second stop of the Burton Global Open Series and a six-star TTR event. 2011 will mark the 12th edition of the Burton European Open. It is held at the Crap Sogn Gion in Laax every day from 9 a.m.

Snowboarders flock to Laax for its four snowparks, freestyle slope, and Freestyle Academy. Laax is also home to the largest half-pipe in Europe and the first indoor freestyle training centre in Europe.

Laax isn't just for freestyle pros. Beginners will find smaller rails and kickers to practise on in the beginner park.
