The resorts of Morillon, Samoëns, Sixt Fer à Cheval, and Verchaix are getting together to let visitors discover a range of Nordic activities Jan. 30.

During the event, called Festi'Nordic, these resorts offer the perfect opportunity to try new activities in a festive and relaxed atmosphere.

Visitors can try out cross-country skiing, Joëring skiing with dogs or horses, biathlon with a rifle, Nordic walking, snowshoeing, or dog sledding for children.

Practical and informative activities are also on the programme to teach participants about the importance of environmental protection in the mountains, local plants and animals, and ARVA searches in case of avalanches. Visitors can learn how to build an igloo and perfect their cross-country ski techniques, be it in classic or skating style.

The activities are planned for Jan. 30, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Morillon-Verchaix Nordic site. However, the scheduled events and locations are subject to change depending on the weather conditions.

All of the activities are free, but guests need to stop by the welcome tent to pick up a festival ticket. Gear is lent free of charge for the activities, which last 30 minutes to one hour. You will need to hire gear or bring your own, if you are planning on discovering the area during a longer ski outing.
