Boost Mobile team riders Mitch Allan, Max Cookes, and Jye Kearney join 19 Australian and international invitees for the World's Longest Rail event. A 100-metre rail will test riders' skills and extreme maneuvers, and the competition also features a 27-stair jam rail, a mammoth Big Air Gap, and two spot wildcards for the uninitiated. Snowboarders seeking their 15 minutes of fame can register for the Wildcard event and try their luck. The premise is simple: whoever slides the longest along the 100-metre box rail wins $10,000. Riders also will take part in a Jam Session choosing their own course of Big Air or Jam Rail. Six competitors will reach the final where the games really begin. With a spin of the Boost Mobile SNOSHO wheel, riders must complete the trick the wheel lands on. The first rider to complete five tricks successfully wins the $30,000. The SNOSHO traditionally brings lights, and lots of them. Six towers with 25,000 watts of light held up by 12 tons of scaffolding provide an impressive show for the crowds in the bleacher seats. It all happens come sundown on Perisher Blue's front valley. No doubt the event will end with a party, and, hopefully, the winner buys the drinks.
