Sugar Mountain in North Carolina welcomes guests to celebrate the arrival of 2011 with a New Year's Eve Party Dec. 31. The party includes live music in the lodge, hors d'oeuvres, champagne toast, party favors, a torchlight parade, and fireworks.
The parade begins at 11:45 p.m., with fireworks starting at 11:55 p.m.
Live entertainment will be provided by The Johnson Brothers, 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.
All ages are welcome in the room where the band performs. The cost is $80 per couple, $45 per single, which includes the hors d'oeuvres, champagne and party favors.
A New Year's Party in the Lounge is $45 per couple, or $25 per single, which includes a champagne toast at midnight. Partygoers must be 21 or older.
Sugar Mountain Resort is the largest ski area in North Carolina, and a long-time favorite with families. Sugar has a vertical drop of 1,200 feet off a summit elevation of 5,300 feet. The resort offers 20 slopes and115 acres of skiable terrain, served by four double chairs, a triple chair, a handle tow, a magic carpet in the beginners area and a magic carpet in the tubing park. The longest run is 1.5 miles. Sugar also offers snowshoeing and ice skating.
