Tyrol Basin, the popular ski area in hilly southeastern Wisconsin, is stuck on the number 12, and it's keeping snow sports affordable for area residents.

The area offers numerous $12 specials to entice skiers and snowboarders midweek. Lift tickets Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m to 4 p.m. are $12.

Every Tuesday, throughout the season, you can get lift tickets, rentals and even lessons for $12 all day long. The last lesson is given at 7 p.m.

Wednesday nights are Family Lesson Night. The special, $12 per person, includes a beginner area lift ticket, equipment rental, helmet and a lesson. Reservations are required. The lessons begin at 6 p.m. and parents and children take the lesson together; limit of two children per adult. Children must be six or older.

Friday nights, from 7:30 to 11 p.m. lift tickets are $12. Regular season all-day adult lift tickets are $42, and juniors (6-12) and seniors (60+) tickets are $37.

Senior skiers and riders, 60 and over, receive discounts on night tickets, weekend all-day tickets and four-hour lift tickets all season long.

Tyrol Basin, long known for its snowboard-friendly atmosphere and full event schedule, was recognized in the November issue of Transworld Snowboard magazine for having some of the top terrain parks in the Midwest.

Tyrol offers 17 slopes and trails, three chairlifts and three surface tows, three varied parks and a halfpipe; all lit for night riding.
