Ax les 3 Domaines in the French Pyrenees is hosting a New Year's party to remember. In a clever bilingual pun, they're calling it the event "le plus show" of the Pyrenees, which in French sounds like either the hottest party or the flashiest get together, or perhaps a little of both.
The festivities kick off at 7 p.m. Dec. 31 when the resort's ski instructors will light up the slopes with a traditional torch-lit run. At the same time, the station turns into a giant pre-dinner drinks party, with the bars serving various aperitifs. Drinks will also flow at the base station, where a glass of hot mulled wine will warm up spectators.
Guests can take a break and enjoy special Réveillon dinners in the restaurants of Ax then come back around 10:30 p.m., when DJ Free will rock the base station with original house mixes to get party-goers jumping.
Then 15 minutes before midnight, fireworks will light up the Pyrenees sky just in time to ring in 2011. DJ Free will return to the decks once the smoke has settled, heating up the night until 2 a.m.
If you want to party until the sun rises over the slopes, hit the resort's bars afterwards. Here, the fun continues with five different atmospheres so everyone can rock their kind of party until its time to head to bed or to breakfast.
